One size fits all

Angle seat valves with adjustable spindle

An angle seat valve for cleaning meat processing machines that can be adapted to a wide variety of machine types. That was the task RSG was asked to solve for a manufacturer of meat processing machines.

The company, based in southern Germany, manufactures cutters, meat grinders, and fine mincers for butchers and the industry. The size of the machines varies accordingly.

For automatic self-cleaning, water and strong cleaning agents must be forced through the machine at high pressure. This process is controlled by angle seat valves. As shut-off valves, they regulate the pressure with which the cleaning fluids are forced through the system. The required pressure varies depending on the size of the machine and its intended use.

Nevertheless, the manufacturer wanted to use only one type of valve for the entire production line and requested an angle seat valve with an adjustable spindle that would allow the valve stroke to be adjusted easily and precisely. As required by food law, the valve had to be made entirely of stainless steel.

Ventilutions delivers cost-effective solution

RSG met these requirements as part of its Ventilution program. This is a program in which the development department first uses an existing modular system when designing new valves. Only those components that are not yet available in this system are redesigned.

Development costs saved

For the customer, this has the advantage of receiving a solution tailored to their specific application without incurring high development costs. In the case of the meat machine manufacturer, these costs were even eliminated entirely due to the agreed delivery quantity.

In order to offer a suitable valve, the engineers simply equipped the standard V4A angle seat valve with a nominal diameter of 1" with a continuously adjustable stainless steel spindle. They redesigned the spindle and the pin for visual control of the opening degree.

Quickly developed and delivered

In total, it took only nine months from the initial contact to the delivery of the first batch. "Thanks to Ventilutions, we can respond quickly even to custom orders, so that the customer can start working with their desired valve in no time," says Jürgen Mayer, Technical Sales, who oversaw the project on the sales side.
