Coaxial valves in the automotive sector

Short switching times, long service life, compact design, and suitability for viscous media. These were the requirements of the Hungarian subsidiary of a German automotive supplier for RSG coaxial valves. Coaxial valves with a nominal diameter of DN40 and DN50 were required for the oil supply system, which is used to fill the automatic transmissions of cars manufactured on behalf of a large German automobile manufacturer with oil. It is important that exactly the right amount of oil enters the transmission – and at precise time intervals. Several million switching operations can be performed with a coaxial valve from RSG. This makes them significantly less prone to wear and friction than the valves otherwise used. In its search for suitable products, the Hungarian company approached RSG with the necessary operating parameters. In addition to the general requirements, the customer requested that the coaxial valve be equipped with a flange instead of the usual threaded connection. In addition, the customer wanted the valve's position to be detected via inductive limit switches. Thanks to RSG's in-house modular system, RSG was able to submit a quote with the desired specifications based on the 270 series coaxial valve the very next day. No special development work was required to carry out this order, only the combination of existing modular elements. "This approach has the advantage that we can quickly offer our customers a customized and proven solution – at very attractive prices," explains Vitali Gerlach from technical sales. "Of course, we are also happy to develop special solutions, but with our Ventilutions modular system, which we have been refining for years, we can help most customers more quickly and cost-effectively," explains the industrial engineer. The customer was pleased and ordered the production of coaxial valves for his production line the very next day. The valves have been in use there since January 2018.
